True wireless earbuds are one of the highest-volume consumer electronics categories on the planet: global TWS shipments hold steady above 400 million units a year, the installed base has long passed the one-billion mark, and the replacement cycle is only 2-3 years. A TWS headset board carries three core parts — the Bluetooth audio SoC (main controller), the charging-management IC and the power-management IC. The main SoC is the earbud board's "little SoC": it integrates the MCU, DSP, Bluetooth RF and audio codec, and while a white-label die is worth CNY 1 and a flagship die CNY 20, most of it still moves as mixed headset scrap. Through 2025-2026, the AI-earbud and open-ear (OWS) double replacement wave has pushed the previous TWS generation into a dense retirement window: hundreds of millions of Bluetooth audio SoCs flow from headsets into the recycling channel every year. Identifying the family and quoting by tier is the single most profitable improvement in headset recycling.
The TWS main-SoC market is highly concentrated around five suppliers: Qualcomm (QCC3040/QCC3056/QCC5151/QCC5171 — Snapdragon Sound platforms, the mid-to-premium Android earbud workhorse); Bestechnic / 恒玄 (BES2500/BES2600 — a fixture in Huawei, Xiaomi and Samsung single-chip dual-driver designs); Airoha / 络达 (AB1565/AB1568 — MediaTek's cost-performance mid-tier); Jieli / 杰理 (AC6955/AC7003 — the white-label volume king); and Bluetrum / 中科蓝讯 (BT8918/BT8895 — entry and white-label mainstream). Identification order: read the marking prefix to place the family (QCC/BES/AB/AC/BT), then the suffix to place the tier — in the same package a QCC5171 trades more than triple a QCC3040, and a BES2600YC prices above a BES2500IP, so always read the full part number. Sanded and remarked parts downgrade on sight; mixed families and models quote at the lowest tier.
Reference Price (CNY) for earbud chip recycling, graded by die health, 2026:
| Category | Representative Part Numbers | Reference Price (CNY) |
|---|---|---|
| Scrap / water-damaged / cold-solder | All brands | CNY 0.2-1 / pc |
| White-label entry SoC, good die | Bluetrum BT8918, Jieli AC6955 | CNY 0.5-2 / pc |
| Mid-tier SoC, good die | Airoha AB1565/AB1568, BES BES2500IP, Qualcomm QCC3040 | CNY 2-6 / pc |
| Premium SoC, good die | BES BES2600YC, Qualcomm QCC3056/QCC5151 | CNY 3-12 / pc |
| Flagship SoC, good die | Qualcomm QCC5171 (Snapdragon Sound flagship) | CNY 10-20 / pc |
| Complete TWS board (SoC + PMU + crystal + antenna) | All brands, board level | CNY 5-15 / board |
Note: 2026 reference ranges, moving with headset shipment cycles; original never-mounted reel/tray stock, warranty-channel units and volume lots quoted separately.
TWS SoC testing is manageable: first read the marking — confirm the vendor family (QCC/BES/AB/AC/BT) and model suffix; sanded and remarked parts downgrade on sight. Second, power-on observation — good dies show normal crystal oscillation at 3.3V, and a static current matching the model's characteristic (white-label about 2-6mA, Qualcomm QCC family about 8-15mA); water-damaged and cold-solder dies show abnormal current signatures. Third, open Bluetooth broadcast — scan with a phone or Bluetooth dongle; dies that broadcast steadily and re-pair price as good stock, while dies that never broadcast or keep resetting move to scrap. Three conditions downgrade on sight: sanded parts, remarked parts, and "soft-failure" dies — water corrosion or hot-air over-removal — earbud boards are heavily epoxy-potted, so bare-die stripping carries real damage risk; any lot that can flow as whole boards should flow whole.
Both ends of TWS recycling moved in the right direction in 2026. On the supply side, AI earbuds (translation, voice-assistant and on-device LLM use cases) and open-ear OWS headsets are ramping fast, pushing the previous in-ear TWS generation into a dense retirement window — white-label and mid-tier SoC supply is climbing sharply. On the demand side, the billion-plus installed base of headsets keeps the repair market stable — TWS repairs are dominated by board failures, battery aging and one-sided silence, and same-model harvested good dies are the first choice for repair spares. The mid-tier band (AB1565 / BES2500IP / QCC3040) is the best-selling tier right now — wide repair margins, high pass rates and fast turnover; the QCC5171 flagship carries the top unit price but moves slowly, so it belongs on locked-channel sales. Pulling TWS SoCs out of "whole-headset scrap" and grading them by vendor family is the single most profitable improvement in headset recycling.
ChipReclaim buys TWS Bluetooth audio SoCs and every semiconductor category — MCU/FPGA/GPU/IGBT/RF/SoC/memory — at premium pricing. Headset retirement channels, repair shops, factory surplus lots and volume sellers all get free evaluation, power-on testing, graded pricing and premium buyback — let's cash out a headset one chip at a time.
